![]() Due to my own history owing a vintage Charvel San Dimas that I bought at a Phoenix pawn shop for $60 in 1996, my favorite EVH guitar is his original Frankenstrat build made with an Ash Body and maple neck sourced from the seconds bin at the Charvel Factory.ĭesperately wanting to own a guitar that looked like Eddie’s, but not being able to afford one of the 300 individual replica Frankenstrats built by Fender in 2007, I wondered how much it might cost and how difficult would it be to make my own replica. As well, I loved the many looks of his guitars over the years, yes even the 5150 Steinberger. I have always loved the guitar playing of Eddie Van Halen, regardless of if he was playing with Dave or Sam (that is totally another discussion for another day).
